Newcastle United Slam Isak’s ‘Broken Promises’ Claims: ‘No Commitment Ever Made’

Newcastle United fire back at Alexander Isak over ‘broken promises’ claim

Newcastle United have responded swiftly and firmly to Alexander Isak’s explosive Instagram statement in which the striker accused the club of failing to uphold promises and damaging their mutual trust.

Isak, the 25‑year‑old Sweden international, publicly confirmed his desire to leave, writing:
When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue.”

He has not participated in the club’s pre-season tour, skipped the Premier League opener, and was notably absent from the PFA Team of the Season awards ceremony—despite being included in the selection Liverpool Offside1.

Newcastle’s response was swift and resolute. In an official statement, the club said:

“We are disappointed to have been alerted to a social media post by Alexander Isak this evening... Alex remains under contract and no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer.” Irish Examiner

They emphasized their intention to keep their best players, while acknowledging players’ personal wishes—but reiterated that the “conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired” and are unlikely to be met The Times

The statement concluded on a conciliatory note:

“Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates.” Reuters

This public standoff comes amid strong interest from Liverpool, which submitted an initial £110 million bid. Newcastle have reportedly set a valuation nearer to £150 million and will only consider a sale if a suitable replacement is brought in 10Talksport

With tensions mounting ahead of a key Manchester clash and the transfer window closing soon, the fallout over broken promises has intensified. Neither side appears ready to back down—raising the stakes for both club and player as the summer drama unfolds.
